What’s New In The OxygenOS 15 Update For OnePlus?

OnePlus recently rolled out the OxygenOS 15 update inspired by Android 15, and I’ll have to say it’s a pretty decent one. However, the update has only been rolled out for OnePlus 10 and later models. This means the OnePlus 9 and its preceding variants won’t get the update. If you have a OnePlus 10 or a later model, then you are in luck!

Now coming to all the features that OnePlus is rolling out, I’ll have you know that I took a look at the features and was pretty amazed at the brilliance! Here’s everything that the new update is offering:

But first, a Pro Tip: Downloading the newest OxygenOS 15 update requires an internet connection so make sure your OnePlus device is connected to one. If you are looking for one, Xfinity Internet is a great choice for reliable internet; you can have the newest update download as seamlessly as possible!

The Beta Version

As of now, all we know is that OnePlus released the beta version of the update starting on the 30th of October 2024. If you are skeptical about bugs, I recommend that you wait for a safer update (with security patches) and then install it.

The beta version of OxygenOS 15 will still have some bugs and glitches, but if you are curious to see what the update will offer, you can go ahead and download the beta version.

Seamless App Switching

Among the many things that I found intriguing about the new update is the seamless app switching.

I’ve been using the OnePlus 9 Pro with OxygenOS 14 for a while now and I thought OnePlus couldn’t get better than this. Then I saw the reveal for the next update and I was taken aback. OnePlus really outdid themselves this time.

The seamless app switching makes your transition as smooth as possible. While this doesn’t help with functionality, it still makes the phone a lot more aesthetically pleasing. So, way to go, OnePlus!

Artificial Intelligence (AI) Enhanced Camera Features

For those who already use OnePlus, you have been enjoying the Hasselblad enhancement feature that comes integrated in the camera. I honestly thought the camera and the images couldn’t get better than that.

However, OnePlus proved me wrong once it integrated AI to further enhance images after they were taken. Some of these features include:

  1. An AI-Detail Boost: This is a new tool that allows you to enhance your image after it has been taken. Usually, a picture reduces its quality once it’s cropped but with this new feature, you can retain your picture’s quality after it has been cropped.
  2. An AI-Reflection Eraser: Have you ever tried to take a picture out of a window but it ends up having unnecessary reflections in the image? You can remove those reflections using generative AI integrated into the phone.
  3. AI Unblur: Doesn’t it get annoying when you take an amazing picture but there’s the only flaw in it, it’s blur. You can now remove unnecessary blur from your images by using this built-in AI feature.

An AI Reply Feature

The AI Reply feature is a part of the OnePlus Smart Sidebar and helps to understand the context behind messages and suggest replies that will make sense. This makes conversations a lot more convenient for you!

Imagine running late somewhere and someone drops a text to you. This way you won’t have to open the conversation to read it so that you can send a reply! This makes getting a new OnePlus phone for yourself a must for you.

Theft Protection

One feature that really stands out for me is theft protection. Previously, the most you could do was set a fingerprint before someone tries to restart or shut down your phone, allowing you to track it as long as it is connected to the internet.

However, with the next update, OnePlus has improved its security features and has added a layer of protection. The phone monitors all app behaviors to warn you about any suspicious activity in any app.

Plus, the new Oxygen OS comes with an anti-theft feature that can detect when someone snatches your phone. If someone takes your phone and goes far away, you can still lock your device using the Find My Device app, which also has the capability to work offline. You can download the app on any other Android phone or a laptop and then sign into the app using your primary Gmail account (the one logged into your phone). This way you can secure your lost phone using another device.

With these layers of protection, you have nothing to worry about when it comes to keeping your data safe.
